Even though our society would say greed can be a good thing because it can motivate you to work hard or improve, I think it is hard to find greed in any way redeeming unless we see it as signpost turning us way from it and toward God (Matt 6:24).
Jesus goes as far as to praise the poor (Lk 6:20) and revile the rich (Matt 19:16-23).
One of the problems with money is that it is addictive (Ecc 5:10) and ultimately unsatisfying (Lk 12:15). And yet we have hucksters of all types, even spiritual hucksters trying to squeeze money from you (2 Cor 2:17)…and they are good at it.
Meanwhile, God reserves contentment only for those who find their wealth in their
adventure of faith and discovery of God’s love (Heb 13:5; 2 Cor 9:8).
