 Each
year Pastor Tom secludes himself to pray about the direction God is
leading HarborPointe and the messages that should be conveyed each
Sunday. He first seeks to determine an overarching theme and then apply
that theme in a specific teaching series that lasts 4-7 weeks.
Some of
these series follow the events of the church year such as Advent, Lent,
Easter, and Pentecost. Other series may be related to the Jewish
calendar such as Rosh Hashana or Yom Kippur and Old Testament passages
such as the Ten Commandments. Many series are an examination of Jesus’
life and teachings.
Certainly all the series and messages are rooted in
the Scriptures and designed to be relevant and challenging for today’s
listeners.

 This year at HarborPointe I want everyone to consider two very important words: Follow me.
These words can get us into a whole lot of trouble if we follow the
wrong person. But they can raise us to a whole new level of wonder and
fulfillment if we follow the right person. And the person we invite you
to follow is Jesus Christ.
When
Jesus said follow me, people responded by leaving their livelihood,
their security, their comfort, their plans, their family and friends...
great cost, but even greater reward of adventure, purpose, meaning,
calling, destiny. When
Jesus said follow me he invited us to pick up our cross, our suffering,
our pain and shame and discover that he would be present no matter what
we faced.
All year long, all of our messages will center on this one theme: Follow Me. Are you ready to take up the challenge? |
